Amanda Bossard was just out her high school days when she started her studies in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999, after she started working aboard the vessel F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner converted to a salmon tender was owned by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999. The pair have come together to defend their businesses. They are both proponents of conserving renewable and sustainable sources of seafood. Otolith was established by Philadelphia through Bella Bossard and is currently mother to two kids who are aged three and one Bossard. Its name is an affectionate reminder of her intimate expertise in fish biology as well as her husband's lengthy involvement in the seafood industry often keeping them from each other for 5 months or more as they work towards financial and environmental goals which reflect both their independence and determination to serve their communities wherever they reside.
