Andrea Opavska became one of most influential figures of modern dance in the past 10 years. She was a member of Lenka Vagnerova & Company. The company received nominations for the Thalia Award for her performance in Gossip and also won an award of a prestigious nature during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for her performance as La Loba. Although a lengthy career can be very fulfilling, it brings along the process of transitioning into a new life. It was clear that I was experiencing a greater separation between myself and fellow dancers. Opavska discusses the work she does within the company. "I started to think if the distance between me and new dancers was something that audiences could accept," says Opavska. She also needed to undergo a complete endoprosthesis on her hip which has also had a temporary result on performances that she is currently performing on stage.
